Winter, Spring, Summer, Autumn
Estrogen starts to arise and we start to feel more energy. Like spring growing into bloom so do we.
Spring is a metaphor for your follicular phase. It is important that women look into their menstrual cycle for any imbalances. They shouldn’t feel pain at any stage, their moods should be stable. We have been led by society to believe we should be hormonal messes when really we need to tune into the stages of the month. Similar to the moon we should wax and wane.

Basically the follicular stage is the first one after your bleeding time and many women look forward to this after a painful shedding. Now is the time to get those healthy fats into your diet.
Honestly I only just started looking into the history of menstruation including topics like the red tent in October but I haven’t looked at the hormone stages of women and the diet effects since a bad IBS flair up returning to my life. I changed up my diet so much as I wanted test out the suggested foods for each stage. (There being 4 groups of different foods to eat). Unfortunately that brought on a flair up of IBS after only a month of trying it out, I blame the lentils..
Therefore I recommend little changes if you suffer from stomach upset. Adding one or two types of food from the lists instead of all of them. (Post on the different foods to follow) Avoiding any trigger foods.
This following recipe was my favourite meal during my cycle balancing. It’s basically a fancy avocado on toast, as if avocado needs to become anymore middle class.
Ingredients
Sourdough bread (toasted)
Avocado
Olives
Anti pasti Artichokes
Salt and Pepper
Pumpkin seeds

So I’m thinking of doing a series of recipes for each phase, starting at Spring and ending in our Winter phase. You may of also noticed I’ve been absent recently ( a whole month) due to other responsibilities and a creative block. Now I’m back hopefully with a routine to help boost my content.
