Welcome to a Breath work guide written by a beginner for other beginners to get started.
5 Benefits I have felt after 2 weeks of regular Breathwork
- Energy through the roof
- Feeling calmer as the less breaths we take a minute, the less we get spikes of cortisol and adrenaline. Not many of us realise this but our bodies are in flight or fight response most of the time as we have got used to shallow breathing.
- Raises your vibration with possible instant , non effort manifestation.
- Easier to lose weight as hunger cravings disappear. Aka I completed my first 24 hour fast after a 1 hour 1-1 session with CBUDD . I can see the difference in fat I’ve been unable to remove from my core for years as 15 minutes of Breathwork is equal to running 2 miles so this makes sense.
- Finally my mental health has done a complete 360 and I feel relieved of a lot of my depression and anxiety. But that’s not to say that it won’t bring up uncomfortable feelings as everyone’s experience is different. Any emotional trauma stored in the body can surface, even parts that you thought you’d got over or worked through already. Therefore it is a great tool for emotional release and doing the shadow work.
Breathing deeply is the fastest way to stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system and create feelings of bliss. Around 70% of toxins are released through the breath and with shallow breathing other parts of our bodies have to take over to aid the detoxing the air we ingest. Making it harder for those organs to do their original and actual jobs.

“So how do I do this?”
With eyes closed.
You want to breathe 100% into your abdomen and less so your chest/diaphragm like you’re used to doing. As you breathe in make sure to expand your stomach like a balloon and then as you exhale you need to make sure all your breath has been dispelled. To help with this process also suck your stomach in.
As you get to the top of your breath in you want to hold it in for as long as possible and do the Kundalini locks. There are many variations of controlled breathing but most include finishing a set with this . The locks are as followed;
Root lock – Is basically a Kegel or clenching your pelvic floor as if you’re holding in the need to pee.
Throat lock – Press your tip of your tongue to the roof of your mouth
Third Eye Lock – Look up to the point between your eyebrows but make sure to keep your eyes relaxed as I have gained many headaches from strain of the eyes during this lock.
And then you want to in a controlled manner exhale completely, sucking your stomach in and hold for as long as possible before going back to a steady normal breath.

(I would like to end with a disclaimer that if you have any underlying health problems to check whether Breathwork is suitable for you. As it can cause hyperventilation if done incorrectly. I also recommend to stop at any point you start to feel dizzy or as if you’re about to faint. I’m not a doctor so although I feel lots of benefits it might not be suitable for you.)
